Friendly Fires Getaway is in use all four seasons. All of our buildings are fully equipped with heating both to provide for the comfort of our Guests, and to ensure that the buildings maintain their integrity during cold weather. The main cottage structure, the Bunky and the Teahouse are all equipped with full-time thermostatically controlled electric heating. In addition, there are propane heaters and wood stoves available in various locations. The use and control of these in each room and location are described in the following sections.
The main cottage building has electric heaters located in all room areas down stairs and in the upstairs bedrooms. These heaters are all thermostatically controlled, and are normally set at a fixed temperature. Downstairs there are two propane heaters as well which can be used to raise the temperature to suit you and your fellow Guest’s comfort level.
This is the propane fireplace in the living room. To find the settings, open the door. The setting should be right in the middle, as per the picture. The silver remote is for this propane fireplace. Please set the remote to the smart setting as the fireplace works best with it. It is normally set at 20℃ to 21℃.
Propane Fireplace by the kitchen and dining room seating area has its own remote control. The remote is black for this unit. Please set the remote on the smart setting. It will keep it at the temperature you set. All the other settings are not efficient.
You will be warm in the upstairs bedrooms as well. There are several electric heaters arranged in the rooms to keep you comfortable during the winter. Here are some images which demonstrate the controls which are easily accessible.
The Teahouse has a combination of baseboard electric heaters, electrically heated floor areas, and an overhead heater, as well as a remote-controlled ceiling fan to circulate the warm air.
This is the thermostat for the heated floor in the Teahouse bathroom bathroom.
The Teahouse has a quite unique high vaulted cathedral ceiling. The ceiling is a very sculptural element in this unique structure. The ceiling fan which is suspended right in the center of this feature will help the circulation of the air in the Teahouse. We recommend that you keep the ceiling fan turning as it is part of the air circulation strategy for the Teahouse. A remote control is available in the Teahouse specifically for this purpose.
The ceiling fan will keep the air circulating. This air movement will be effective both to move warmer air down, as well as to help in ventilation during the warmer months to help the outside breezes coming off the lake for ventilation through the open windows.
The Bunky has electric heating to keep you comfortable. The wall-mounted thermostat controls the wall-mounted electric heater which you can set to suit your temperature preferences.
